New Addition
Upon purchase of the house, the existing footprint would not accommodate a kitchen, family room and master suite and third-story store room. We added an addition to avoid disturbing the original 1890 floor plan as little as possible. In order to differentiate between the new and the old part of the house, we designed the new windows to complement the original two over two windows. In addition, the new window pediments are modern as compared to the more ornate original pediments on the original exterior. Another difference is that the original interior bullseye moulding around the doors and windows, as well as the picture rail, are not replicated in the new addition. As opposed to the heart pine in the old part of the house, the new addition will have reclaimed oak flooring from a historic mill in Louisiana.
